50 Jahre Woodstock 50 Years of Woodstock

August 15-17, 2019, Volkspark Laaerberg

This year marks the 50th anniversary of one of the most important events in modern music history: the Woodstock Festival. This event not only changed the music scene forever, but also transformed society on a sociopolitical level.

This event is not intended to rehash the festival of 1969, an attempt which would naturally be doomed to failure from the outset. Instead, our focus lies on providing a worthy framework to the memory of this legendary event.

50 Shades of Woodstock 50 Shades of Woodstock

Thursday, August 15, 2019, 3 pm at the VHS Veranstaltungszentrum PAHO

In the run-up to our festival '50 Years of Woodstock' we invite you to a multimedia journey through 40 years of contemporary and music history! What issues dominated the 50s and 60s of the last century politically and musically, and what influence did the events of that era take on the following decades' culture?
In images and music we recollect events like the first successful test of the hydrogen bomb, the launch of Sputnik, as well as the rise of rock'n'roll as the youth music of the 1950s. The division of Berlin, the race riots in the USA, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and especially the Vietnam War dominated the 1960s. Of course, we are especially dedicated to the years of 1967 to 1969, as this period immediately precedes Woodstock.
The following decades, however, were also marked by this era: Political developments such as the peace movement or the fall of the Berlin Wall would probably not have taken place without the previous two decades' cultural events.

This part of our program takes place at the VHS Veranstaltungszentrum PAHO

Her songs are melancholic, delicate and expressive. Electronic music meets acoustic sounds, no fuss or tam-tam are needed. The musician from Lower Austrian strikes her audience with a deep, touching naturalness. Her songs tell stories that are sometimes ambiguous, sometimes right in your face. Some of LiLa's songs are small riddles, others tell the whole story. LiLa Mondscheiner never puts on a big show – and yet her songs will grip you.
